In consideration of being permitted to volunteer my services in connection with activities and events organized, sponsored, or benefiting the Hillsboro Rotary Inc. and/or the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Hillsboro (the “Organizations”), I agree to the following terms:

This Volunteer Agreement and Release applies to and benefits the following parties and their respective officers, directors, members, agents, employees, and volunteers (collectively, the “Released Parties”): • The Hillsboro Rotary Inc; • The Foundation of the Rotary Club of Hillsboro, an Oregon nonprofit corporation; • Any co-organizer, event management organization, or third-party operator of the activity or event for which I am volunteering; • The City of Hillsboro and any other government entities granting permits for the activity or event; • Event sponsors, vendors, and other organizations or individuals supporting the activity or event.

I understand that as a volunteer, I represent the Organizations to the public. I accept the responsibility of this role and agree to conduct myself in a professional and courteous manner at all times during my volunteer service. I agree to: • Follow all instructions provided by event staff, officials, and law enforcement; • Remain at my assigned post or area unless instructed otherwise by an event coordinator; • Refrain from and promptly report any instance of harassment, exploitation, intimidation, or discriminatory conduct; • Maintain a safe and respectful environment for all participants, spectators, and fellow volunteers; • Maintain the confidentiality of any personal or identifying information about participants or donors that I may encounter in my volunteer role.

I understand that volunteering at community events and outdoor activities involves physical activity and inherent risks, including but not limited to: • Exposure to vehicle or foot traffic while directing participants or managing event areas; • Falls, slips, trips, or collisions with participants, spectators, equipment, barriers, or course features; • Physical exertion, including standing, walking, or lifting for extended periods; • Effects of weather conditions including heat, humidity, cold, sun exposure, and rain; • Injuries caused by or arising from interaction with participants, spectators, or other volunteers; • Injury, disability, or death. I acknowledge that these and other risks are inherent in community event volunteering and cannot be entirely eliminated, even with reasonable precautions.

I voluntarily and knowingly assume all risks associated with my volunteer service, including those risks described above, and including risks arising from the negligence of the Released Parties. I understand that I am assuming these risks freely and voluntarily.

In consideration of being permitted to volunteer, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives, and assigns, hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, arising out of or in connection with my volunteer service, whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise. This release includes but is not limited to: claims for personal injury, bodily injury, death, emotional distress, and property damage. This release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by Oregon law. I understand that this release means I am giving up my right to sue the Released Parties if I am injured during my volunteer service, even if the Released Parties were at fault.

I certify that I am physically able to perform the volunteer duties assigned to me and that I have no medical condition that would prevent my safe participation as a volunteer. I acknowledge that the Released Parties are not responsible for evaluating or confirming my fitness to volunteer.

In the event of injury, illness, or medical emergency during my volunteer service, I authorize the event coordinator and any medical personnel present to seek and provide emergency medical treatment on my behalf. I agree to be solely responsible for all costs of any medical care I receive and release the Released Parties from any liability for medical care provided or arranged on my behalf.

I grant permission to the Hillsboro Rotary Inc. and the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Hillsboro to use my name, likeness, voice, and image captured during my volunteer service in photographs, video recordings, social media posts, press materials, and other publications for non-commercial promotional and charitable purposes. No compensation shall be due for such use.

I understand that I am volunteering my services without compensation and that I am not an employee, contractor, or agent of the Hillsboro Rotary Inc, the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Hillsboro, or any event co-organizer. I am not entitled to any wages, benefits, or workers’ compensation coverage in connection with my volunteer service.

This Volunteer Agreement and Release shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Oregon. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

I HAVE READ THIS VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT AND RELEASE IN ITS ENTIRETY. I UNDERSTAND THAT BY SIGNING BELOW I AM GIVING UP LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE FOR INJURIES THAT OCCUR DURING MY VOLUNTEER SERVICE. I AM SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY, AND NOT AS A RESULT OF ANY FRAUD, DURESS, OR MISREPRESENTATION.
